Today, I canceled my Avast license for good.
Prior to this, I received an email from digital river dot com informing me that my credit card which I have used for auto-renewal of my Avast license has expired already. This let me into looking for answers as to who digital river is and I found out that there were other complaints against them from other users too. I checked my email again and I saw that they are a third-party vendor selling Avast licenses, legitimately.
What led me into being suspicious is the fact that their database is not updated and they were asking me to update my personal information particularly the credit card data.
Anyway, I was looking for another antivirus that does not have so many annoying promotional ads that justify their needs to have additional users purchasing their add-ons and other products which should have been bundled already in their antivirus software.
Then again, business is business. So, after browsing for some answers, I saw a recommendation from a technology review website that Bitdefender 2019 is the best antivirus for Windows 10.
It was also their fifty percent promo that led me into buying their Bitdefender Total Security 2019 which was a good catch already since it was meant to be used for 5 devices already. The original price was 2,999 pesos and I only paid 1,499.20 pesos. The discounted price of 1,499.80 pesos was indicated as “Cybersecurity Awareness Month”. I did not check additional add-ons, too.
It was good savings already and now I have already installed Bitdefender Total Security 2019 and removed Avast Cleanup Premium and Avast Internet Security. Now, I will have to learn the ins-and-outs of a new antivirus.
A few hours after the successful installation of a new antivirus, I received a notification from my online Upwork job client that
they are already ending they already ended my contract (as of this writing). It was a somber news.
